Rebel Netters Enjoy Successful Day At ITA All-American Championships

Chattanooga, Tenn. - Members of the Ole Miss men's tennis team were firing on all cylinders Tuesday in the qualifying round of the Icy Hot/ITA Men's All-American Championships. All four Rebels in competition at Champions Club advanced to the second round of their respective draws.
Sophomore Catalin Gard, seeded ninth in the singles qualifying draw, defeated Minnesota's Avery Ticer in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3. The victory earned Gard a second round match with Baylor's Matias Marin. Paul Ciorascu, seeded 11th in the same draw, was victorious over Paulo Carvalho of Louisville, 7-6(4), 7-5. Ciorascu will face Texas' Jose Zahri tomorrow in the second round.
Ole Miss' doubles pair of Alex Hartman and Claes Lindholm won their first round qualifying match against Texas' Roger Gubser and Drew Hoskins, 8-6. Their second round opponents will be Illinois' Phil Stolt and Brian Wilson, seeded seventh in the draw.
