Ole Miss Cross Country Teams Close Out Season

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Ole Miss men's and women's cross country teams closed out the 2002 season on Saturday. The two teams competed at the NCAA South Regional Meet. The meet was run at the Lambert Acres Golf Club and was hosted by the University of Tennessee.

Tennessee won both team titles. Ole Miss did not post a team score in either race, as only four runners finished. David Kimani of Alabama took home the individual title in the men's 10K race with his time of 32:09. Vicky Gill of Florida State took home the women's individual title by completing the 6K course in 21:03.

Junior Caleb Hammons led the Rebels with his time of 35:24, good for 83rd place. Following Hammons were freshmen Jimmy Lohmar (35:35, 87th), Patrick Journy (37:43, 111th) and Bryce McKay (39:39, 129th).

Freshman Rachel Ellison led the Lady Rebels. Ellison clocked in at 24:37, which earned her 75th place. Freshman Amanda Marcak was next for Ole Miss with her 94th place finish. Marcak completed the race in 25:25. Sophomores Beth Brorby (25:32, 97th) and Erin Jordan (25:41, 98th) completed the field for the Lady Rebels.
