CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri canceled its weekend softball tournament due to impending cold and wet weather but is still hosting Ole Miss on Friday in a noon (CST) doubleheader, as the teams try to play some games before the winter weather arrives in Cape Girardeau.
In an effort to pick up some more competition before next weekend's SEC opener at Tennessee, the Rebels (9-4) have also added a Sunday doubleheader at Louisiana-Monroe to the schedule. The Indians are 6-11 on the season, but carry in a 2-1 mark vs. Ole Miss. The twin bill will begin at 1 p.m. CST at Lady Indian Field in Monroe.
Ole Miss, who is ending a 10-day layoff, is off to the second-best start in the program's six-year history and boasting a four-game improvement from this point last year. The Rebels split a home doubleheader with Colorado State on Feb. 18 in their last action.
