ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The Ole Miss softball team remains perfect on the young season at 4-0 after sweeping both games in day one of the UCF/Triple Crown Classic. The Rebels took out Marshall, 3-1, and Central Florida, 3-2, to continue their best start in the program's six-year history.

Becky Testin homered Ole Miss past Marshall (0-2) in the nightcap. A sophomore transfer from Indian River Community College, Testin blasted a two-run home run, her first as a Rebel, to deep left field in the fifth inning to put Ole Miss ahead 3-0. She finished the game 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs-scored.

Freshman Lindsey Whatley tossed a one-run complete game in her first career start. The Huntsville, Ala., native limited the Thundering Herd to three hits in raising her record to 2-0. Randi Nielson (0-1) surrendered two earned runs on five hits in the loss for Marshall.

The early game saw Lindsay Price (1-0) hurl one of the finest games of her career. The junior righthander struck out 11 Golden Knights, shattering her previous career high of six, and allowed only one earned run on three hits over 5.1 innings. Leslie Day pitched the final 1.2 innings in picking up her first save as a Rebel.

After being held hitless for three innings, the Rebels broke free with a pair of runs in the fourth on RBI-singles by freshmen DeDe Justice and Nicole Alger. Ole Miss increased its lead to 3-0 in the fifth inning when Desiree Layman singled home Testin.

Tournament-host UCF (2-3) plated a pair of runs in the sixth inning to slice the UM margin to one but could get no closer. Sarah Miller batted 2-for-2 with an RBI to lead the Knights.

Saturday's second-round action of the nine-team Triple Crown Classic sees Ole Miss face off with Purdue (1-1) at 11:30 a.m. ET, and Florida A&M (2-2) at 7 p.m.
