PENSACOLA, Fla. - ,The Ole Miss women's tennis team took a break from conference action Wednesday, to take on Division II powerhouse West Florida and defeated the Argonauts 6-1. With the win, the Lady Rebels snapped a five-match losing streak and improved to 7-5 overall.

In the latest Omni Hotels Collegiate Rankings released on Wednesday, the Lady Rebels moved up a few spots to No. 36 as they get set to take on Auburn and Alabama this weekend. Ole Miss claimed the opening doubles point by sweeping all three matches to improve to 6-0 when they win the doubles point.

In singles, Ole Miss won five of the six matches, all in straight sets. Mira Radu downed Sabine Krawietz 6-0, 6-3 at the top spot. Senior Alesya Ignatieva dominated Eva Papastratides 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles.

On court three, Karem Harboe wasted little time in her match against Diana Olave, winning 6-3, 6-0. Florencia Basile cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win over Pilar Cortez at No. 5 singles and then Audra Adams defeated Giulianna Oblitas 6-0, 6-4 at the No. 6 position to finish out the scoring.

West Florida picked up its only win of the day at No. 4 singles, when Ilona Szalai defeated Sabrina Peppl 6-3, 7-5.

Ole Miss will meet Auburn at 2 p.m. on Friday and then travel to Tuscaloosa for a 1 p.m. match on Sunday against Alabama. The Lady Rebels have won 12 in a row against Auburn and 20 of their 22 versus Alabama. Ole Miss has posted a 57-3 record against Western Division teams since 1990. This is the first year that women's tennis is split into divisions.
