OXFORD, Miss. - Andrea Brahs homered and drove in five runs in guiding Ole Miss to a doubleheader sweep of Kentucky Saturday, 5-2 and 9-4, in the Rebels' first SEC homestand of the season. The two victories run the current Ole Miss winning streak to six games, second-longest in school history, and push the Rebels to their best 25-game start ever at 17-8 (2-3 SEC).

Freshman DeDe Justice belted her eighth and ninth home runs in the twin bill. Down 2-0 in game one, she ripped a solo shot in the third inning to ignite the Rebel offense. Two innings later, Brahs, a sophomore from Boynton Beach, Fla., smashed a three-run round-tripper, her fourth of the season, to give Ole Miss its first lead.

A Justice RBI-sacrifice fly in the sixth inning and a strong finish by righthander Leslie Day secured the Rebels the series-opener, 5-2. Day (6-3) allowed eight hits, but only three after the Wildcats' third-inning outburst.

UK hurler Meghan Cooper (7-4) also surrendered eight hits in the complete-game loss.

Offensively, Lyndsey Angus hit 3-for-4 and batted in a run to lead Kentucky (15-13, 1-4 SEC). The junior catcher collected six hits and four RBI in the doubleheader.

Angus sparked the Cats to another quick start in game two, singling home a pair of runs in the first inning. Andy Eilertson doubled in another run in the third to pump the Kentucky lead up to 3-0 before the UM bats awoke.

The Rebels responded with six runs in the bottom of the third, kickstarted by a Brahs two-run single. Nicole Alger and Megan Kozar followed with RBI baseknocks, and that duo later scored on Phyllis Manley's two-run double to put Ole Miss ahead 6-3.

The Rebel barrage continued with a Britte Hardy two-run triple in the fifth inning and a Justice solo homer in the sixth. Justice totaled three hits and three RBI in the two games.

UM junior Lindsay Price (5-2) scattered 13 hits in her sixth complete game of the season. Jennifer Howland (5-4) yielded 10 hits and six walks in the loss.

Ole Miss has locked up its first SEC series win in two years, and will be looking for the three-game sweep Sunday at 1 p.m. CST in the finale at Ole Miss Softball Complex.
