Hutchinson Earns SEC Player of the Week Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Senior outfielder Burney Hutchinson, of Tupelo, Miss., has been named the Southeastern Conference's Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.

Hutchinson went 11-for-21 at the plate, posting a .524 average to help the Rebels to a 4-1 record last week. He also had four doubles, three RBIs, scored seven runs and recorded a .714 slugging percentage, and a .545 on-base average.

During this past weekend's three-game series with Auburn, Hutchinson went 7-for-13 with two doubles and three RBIs. In Sunday's series finale, he recorded his fourth career four-hit game, going 4-for-5 with two doubles, including a three-run double in the seventh inning to break open a 4-2 game and help the Rebels win the rubber-match with the Tigers, 10-2.

Hutchinson will carry an 11-game hitting streak into Ole Miss' Tuesday evening game with Arkansas State, scheduled for 6:30 p.m., at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field. He has also recorded at least one hit in 23 of the Rebels' last 24 games, and is hitting .385 on the year with a team-high seven home runs, and 30 RBIs.

REBELS REMAIN AT NO. 9 IN COLLEGIATE BASEBALL TOP 30, HOST ARKANSAS STATE TUESDAY AT 6:30 P.M.

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss remained at No. 9 in this week's Collegiate Baseball Top 30 poll, while moving up to No. 12 in both the Baseball Weekly/ESPN and Baseball America Top 25 polls. The Rebels were No. 13 in last week's Baseball Weekly/ESPN Top 25, and No. 15 in the Baseball America Top 25.

Ole Miss was ranked No. 8 in last week's National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association poll, which is scheduled be released Tuesday afternoon.

The Rebels (29-8, 10-5 in the SEC) will go for their 30th win of the season Tuesday evening when Ole Miss concludes a nine-game home stand by hosting Arkansas State (16-19) in a non-conference game at 6:30 p.m., at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field.

Fans are asked to check their tickets for Tuesday's game, as they were printed with the incorrect date of April 30.

The Rebels have been one of the hottest teams in the nation over the past month. Ole Miss will enter Tuesday's game having won 14 of its last 15 games, and 16 of its last 18 after being swept at Florida, March 15-17.

Tuesday's game can be heard locally in Oxford on WTNM Supertalk Mississippi 105.5 FM, and over the internet on the official Ole Miss athletic web site, www.OleMissSports.com.

FRIDAY'S AND SATURDAY'S GAME AT ALABAMA MOVED UP DUE TO NCAA WOMEN'S GYMNASTICS CHAMPIONSHIPS

OXFORD, Miss. - Friday's Ole Miss at Alabama college baseball game has been moved to a 4 p.m., start time, and Saturday's game time has been switched to 2 p.m., due to Alabama hosting the NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championship that weekend.

Friday's series opener was originally scheduled for 6:30 p.m., and the Rebels and Crimson Tide were scheduled to play game two of the series at 4 p.m.

Sunday's series finale is still scheduled for a 2 p.m., start.

All three games will be carried on stations along the Ole Miss Radio Network, and over the internet att www.OleMissSports.com.
