Ole Miss Inks Pearl River Community College Pitcher

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss has signed Pearl River Community College right-handed pitcher Chris Thompson to a national letter of intent to play baseball for the Rebels, Head Coach Mike Bianco announced Monday. Thompson will be eligible for the upcoming 2002-2003 academic year.

Thompson went 11-3 with a 3.27 ERA in 20 appearances this past spring while helping the Wildcats to an appearance in the NJCAA World Series. He also struck out 97 in 107 1/3 innings pitched.
He made one start for Pearl River in the NJCAA World Series and tossed a three-hitter in a 9-1 win over Brookdale (NJ) Community College. Thompson also struck out 10 in the start against Brookdale.

Ole Miss finished this past season with a 37-19 record.
