Rebels, Lady Rebels Finish Fourth At Southern Miss.

Hattiesburg, Miss. - The Rebels and Lady Rebels each finished fourth Friday afternoon in the 23rd Annual Southern Miss Cross Country Invitational at the Van Hook Golf Course, Lake Sehoy, pavilion side. Tulane University captured 1st place in both the men's and women's team scoring.
The Ole Miss men were led for the second straight week by junior Caleb Hammons, placing 14th in the men's four mile run with a time of 22:09. The Lady Rebels were led by sophomore Beth Brorby, whose time of 20:24 earned her 15th in the women's race.
Asbel Ngetich of Southeastern Louisiana placed first among collegiate runners in the men's race with a time of 21:07. The women's event was won by Louisiana-Monroe's Rhonda Sherrer, who completed the race in 18:20.
Joining Hammons in the men's top 20 was Rebel freshman Jimmy Lohmar, finishing 16th with a time of 22:20. Freshmen Patrick Journy (22:58) and Bryce McKay (23:41) contributed to the fourth place team finish as well. Freshman Joseph Granthem (23:48) rounded out the Rebels' top five competitors.
Following Brorby, the Lady Rebels' top five runners consisted of freshman Amanda Marcak (20:39), sophomore Erin Jordan (21:03), freshman Stephanie Barber (21:50), and freshman Trista McKee (22:27).
The Ole Miss men's team score of 103 was bested by Tulane (62), Louisiana-Monroe (72) and Southeastern Louisiana (73). The Ole Miss women finished with a team score of 115, fourth behind Tulane (60), New Orleans (66) and Louisiana-Monroe (114).
