Ellison And Hammons Lead Ole Miss At ULM Invitational

MONROE, La. - Rachel Ellison crossed the finish line in third place in the women's race and Caleb Hammons came in fifth place to lead the Ole Miss cross country teams at theULM Invitational on Friday night.
Ellison, a freshman from Pasco, Wash., completed the two-mile course at the Pine Hills Country Club in 12:14, just behind Rhonda Sherrer of ULM and Ana Rodriguez of Stephen F. Austin, to claim the third place finish in her first collegiate meet.
Joining Ellison with Top10 finishes on the women's side were freshman Emily Hufstedler (6th, 12:37), sophomore Beth Brorby (9th, 13:03) and freshman Amanda Marcak (10th, 13:11). Sophomore Erin Jordan finished 11th (13:19) to round out the top five competitors for Ole Miss.
Hammons, a junior from Pelahatchie, Miss., led three Rebels runners on the four mile course with Top 10 finishes as he came in fifth with a time of 22:04. Freshmen Jimmy Lohmar (6th, 22:20) and Camp Craig (10th, 22:53) joined Hammons in the Top 10.
Freshmen Patrick Journy (12th, 23:04) and Bryce McKay (13th, 23:24) rounded out the top five runners for Ole Miss.
The meet was dually scored, with the Ole Miss women falling to Stephen F. Austin and defeating ULM and Louisiana Tech. The Ole Miss men's team, behind Hammons' performance, lost to Stephen F. Austin and defeated ULM. Louisiana Tech did not field a men's team.
