OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss men's and women's cross country teams prepare to run on familiar ground as they host the 2003 Ole Miss Invitational at University Golf Course, Friday, Oct. 3 in Oxford, Miss. The men's 8k race is set to begin at 4:30 p.m., followed by the women's 6k at approximately 5:15 p.m.

The event marks the first time in seven years Ole Miss has hosted a cross country meet, dating back to the 1996 SEC Cross Country Championships.

"We're excited about hosting a meet on campus again," said Ole Miss Assistant Coach Doug Blackwell. "We're looking forward to our kids competing well this weekend as they look to continually improve."

Highlighting the meet for Ole Miss will be sophomores Rachel Ellison and Jimmy Lohmar who have posted back to back team highs in the first two meets of the year. In Ole Miss' last outing Ellison led all Lady Rebels in the Crimson Classic 5k race with a time of 18:54 while Jimmy Lohmar led the men's team with an 8k time of 27:57.

In addition to Ole Miss, the meet will feature men's and women's squads from Mississippi College and Alcorn State, along with Southern Mississippi's women's team.
