OXFORD, Miss. - After an exciting win Friday night against LSU, the Ole Miss volleyball team faced SEC Western Division leading Arkansas Sunday and dropped a 3-0 match at the Gillom Sports Center.

The Lady Rebels (3-16, 2-4) were aced 10 times by Arkansas (14-4, 7-0), who hit .339 as a team and had 11 team blocks. Junior outside hitter Elena Garcia recorded 15 kills on 31 attempts and hit .355 for the match to lead the Lady Rebels. Sophomore middle blocker Rachel Refenes posted 14 kills on 21 attempts and hit .524. Freshman outside hitter Jaclyn Toohey added nine kills and hit .353.

Arkansas was led by 6-5 senior middle blocker Sara Kincaid, who had 12 kills and seven blocks, while hitting .556. Junior middle blocker Jennifer Haaser added 15 kills, seven digs and four blocks to go with a .478 hitting percentage.

"We played a very good Arkansas team today," head coach Joe Getzin said. "They finished with 11 blocks in three games, which is pretty good. "I think we were intimidated by their size and they got us out of our rhythm. We need to block better as a team to have a chance against a team like Arkansas."

Game one was tied at four, but then Arkansas won three straight points to take a 7-4 lead. They would increase their lead to five (17-12) as Ole Miss used its first timeout. The Lady Razorbacks then went on a 6-3 run to make it 23-15, forcing the Lady Rebels to call their final timeout. Arkansas went on to take the game 30-18.

The Lady Rebels came out much better in game two, as there were 11 ties in the game. Ole Miss trailed by two (25-23) towards the end of the game, but won two consecutive points to tie it at 25. Arkansas called timeout and then won the next point. Ole Miss answered to even it at 26 but then the Lady Razorbacks won four of the next five points to close out the game 30-27 and take a 2-0 lead in the match.

Not wanting to go down without a fight, the Lady Rebels came out ready to go in game three and stayed close until Arkansas took a 16-13 lead. Arkansas increased its lead to five (21-16), and then Ole Miss responded by winning three straight points to get within 21-19, as the Lady'Backs called timeout. The Lady Rebels would later pull to within one (23-22), but a 7-4 run by Arkansas closed out the game 30-26 and the match.

Ole Miss will step out of conference play to host UAB Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Gillom Sports Center, before welcoming Georgia and Florida next weekend.
