OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss sophomore defensive lineman McKinley Boykin underwent a meniscectomy of the medial meniscus in his left knee here Tuesday at the Oxford Surgery Center.
"Dr. Ed Field removed torn meniscus and the surgery went well," said Ole Miss head athletic trainer Tim Mullins. "McKinley started his rehab Tuesday afternoon and, although he is out for an indefinite time, we anticipate a full recovery."
Boykin, a 6-2, 285 pound defensive tackle from Bessemer, Ala., has appeared in nine games this season, with three starting assignments. The injury to his left knee was sustained in the first half of last Saturday's game at Auburn.
He currently ranks eighth on the team for most tackles with 33 hits, including 15 solo stops. Boykin also has three and one-half tackles for loss, three pass break-ups, and six QB hurries.
