The Ole Miss volleyball team lost another tough match on the road, falling to LSU 3-1 at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center Sunday. With the loss, the Ldy Rebels fell to 5-21 overall and 3-9 in the SEC, while LSU improved to 11-14 and 6-6 in the league.

Junior outside hitter Elena Garcia led the Lady Rebels with her 15th double-double of the season, 20 kills and 13 digs. In the first game of the match, Garcia netted her 800th career dig. She now has over 800 kills and 800 digs for her career. Sophomore Rachel Refenes added 10 kills, seven digs and four blocks. Freshman middle blocker Jillian Ohrman had nine kills to go along with her nine blocks. Her seven block assists is a career-best.

Ole Miss gained a 7-4 lead early in game one. The Lady Rebels increased their lead to seven (16-9) forcing LSU to call timeout. Following the LSU timeout, Ole Miss used a 8-1 run to pull away to a 24-10 advantage. LSU would not go away easily, going on a 7-1 run to get within 26-17, as Ole Miss used its first timeout of the game. The Tigers never got closer than six the rest of the way, as the Lady Rebels held on to win the game 30-22.

LSU responded in game two to take a 10-6 lead. Ole Miss then won four straight points tie it at 10. The Tigers answered, winning five consecutive points to go up 15-10. The Lady Rebels used a 6-1 run to pull even again at 16, forcing an LSU timeout. With the game tied at 18, the Lady Rebels went on a 5-1 run to go back up 23-19. LSU erased that lead with a 5-0 run and regained the lead, 24-23, as Ole Miss called its first timeout. A 6-3 run by the Tigers closed out the game 30-26 and evened the match at one game all.

After the break, LSU came out and took a 7-4 lead early in game three. Ole Miss won four straight to go up 8-7. The two teams then battled back and forth until LSU went up 13-10 and Ole Miss called timeout. The Tigers extended their lead to seven (24-17) forcing the Lady Rebels to burn their final timeout. It didn't get any better following the timeout, as LSU would hold to take the game 30-22 and a 2-1 lead in the match.

Ole Miss, looking to stay in the match, came in the fourth game playing much better than in games two and three. The Lady Rebels took an 8-5 lead and then used a 7-3 run to extend it to seven (15-8) forcing an LSU coach Fran Flory to use her first timeout. Ole Miss maintained its lead and led 22-16 when LSU called its final timeout of the game. The Tigers then went on an 8-2 run to close the gap and even the game at 24. The game went back and forth after that, but with the score knotted at 28-28, LSU won the final two points to take the game 30-28 and the match.

LSU was led by junior Regan Hood's 16 kills and six blocks. Sophomore Megan Heinz chipped in 15 kills and 10 blocks and hit .429 for the Tigers.

Ole Miss returns home to host Alabama and Auburn next weekend at the Gillom Sports Center.
