Ole Miss Cross Country Teams Run In SEC Championships

ATHENS, Ga. - The Ole Miss men's and women's cross country teams took part in the 2003 SEC Cross Country Championships, held Monday at the University of Georgia Golf Course in Athens, Ga. Arkansas captured first place in the men's 8K, while Tennessee took home the women's 6K title.
As a team, the Lady Rebels finished 12th in the event. Rachel Ellison led the way for Ole Miss with a 6K time of 23:49.76, earning her 40th place. Beth Brorby (75th, 25:45.92) and Micah Pioreck (76th, 25:56.70) rounded out the top three for the Lady Rebels.
The Ole Miss men finished 11th behind the running of Justin Jernigan, whose 8K time of 27:41.63 earned him 60th place. Jimmy Lohmar (72nd, 28:38.99) and Bryce McKay (82nd, 30:58.60) were among the squad's top three runners.
Thomas Morgan of Kentucky placed first overall in the men's 8K, crossing the finish line in 24:59.25. Auburn's Angela Homan captured the individual title in the women's 6K with a time of 21:49.76.
Arkansas' first place finish marks the 13th straight SEC championship for the Razorbacks since joining the league in 1991. The Lady Vols' team title was their third overall and first since 1990.
Up next for the Ole Miss men's and women's cross country teams is the NCAA South Regional, held Nov. 15 in Auburn, Ala.
