HOUSTON - No. 25 (Baseball America) Ole Miss (3-3) scored three runs in the seventh inning to break a 2-2 tie and defeat No. 23 (Baseball America) Stetson (3-6) 5-2 Sunday afternoon at Rice University's Reckling Park in the Crowne Plaza/Rice Invitational.

Ole Miss scored the go-ahead run on a two-out fielding error by Stetson third baseman Andy Wilson, allowing Stephen Head to score from second to make it 3-2. A batter later, Chad Sterbens hit a two-run double down the left field line to make it 5-2.

Head (1-0) also pitched three innings of scoreless relief, allowing two hits and two walks to earn the win. He also struck out two.

Rebel starter T.J. Beam worked six solid innings, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks, and struck out four.

Adam Blair (0-1) suffered the loss for the Hatters as he was hurt by three Stetson miscues. He was charged with five unearned runs on seven hits and one walk.

Sterbens, Head and Jonathan Swearingen all had two hits each as Ole Miss out-hit Stetson 8-7.

Wilson went 2-for-4 to lead Stetson at the plate.

The Rebels took a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Matt Tolbert reached base on an error by pitcher Adam Blair off a bunt attempt and later came around to score on Charlie Babineaux's bloop single to left center. Ole Miss added another run when Chad Sterbens scored on a fielder's choice.

Stetson scored a run in the second on a double by Bryan Zenchyk and tied the game in the sixth on a RBI single by Chris Westervelt.

Ole Miss will return to action Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m, at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field to begin a 10-game home stand.
