GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Sophomores Shantel Glass and Antwon Hicks were the top performers for Ole Miss at the Gator Invitational on Sunday. Glass provisionally qualified for the 2002 NCAA Indoor Championships with his personal best leap of 25-3.75. His mark earned him second place at the Gator Invitational. Hicks automatically qualified for the NCAA meet with his third place finish in the 55-meter hurdles. The Hot Springs, Ark., native set a new Ole Miss record with his time of 7.19.

"Shantel and Antwon performed really well," said Ole Miss head coach Joe Walker. "It was by far Shantel's best meet this season and Antwon just continues to improve with each race. I am very proud of both of them."

Junior Kendrick Triggs finished second among collegiate competitors in the 200 meters and fifth overall with his time of 21.29, while senior James Shelton placed fifth among collegiate competitors and seventh overall in the 55 meters. Shelton clocked in at 6.28.

Two other sophomores scored points for Ole Miss in Brandon Atkinson and LaToya McBride. Atkinson turned in a personal best in the triple jump with his sixth-place leap of 50-8.75, while McBride also recorded a personal best on her way to a fourth-place finish in the high jump. McBride cleared 5-8 in the event.

Ole Miss will return to the track on Feb. 15, when they travel to Fayetteville, Ark., for the Tyson Invitational.
