OXFORD, Miss. - Members of the Ole Miss men's and women's track and field teams will participate April 24-27 in the 2003 Penn Relays on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania, Franklin Field.

In it's 109th running, the Penn Relay Carnival will feature 425 races involving athletes from a wide array of ages and ability competing over a three-day period.

The Relays offer something for every fan, from the Olympian-laden USA vs. The World 4x100M relay to the Philadelphia Archdiocese Junior Girls 4x100M relay to the 100M dash for athletes 75 years or older. While the Rebels and Lady Rebels will compete primarily in relay events at the meet, several athletes will also compete in individual events.

"I'm very excited because it features the best of the best," said Marquita Aldridge, who will be competing in the long jump and sprint relays. "Your best usually comes out at Penn Relays. If you do well there, then you're good. There's no fluke about it."

Representing Ole Miss will be nine members from the men's team and eight members from the women's team. The event takes place just two weeks before the SEC meet in Knoxville, Tenn. It's an opportunity that Rebel runners, such as Kendrick Triggs, see as good preparation.

"A lot of SEC teams will be there so you get the chance to run against them before the conference meet," said Kendrick Triggs, recently named the SEC men's track athlete of the week. "It gives us a chance to look forward to what we're going up against two weeks from now."
