Ole Miss Track Teams Perform Well At Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Ole Miss men's and women's track and field teams traveled to Philadelphia, Pa., this weekend to compete in the 109th running of the prestigious Penn Relays. While the Lady Rebels did not have anyone place in the meet, the Rebels recorded six Top Eight finishes.

The Rebel 4x100-meter relay team finished second in the college men's division with their time of 40.45, and the Rebel 4x400-meter relay team placed sixth in the same division with their time of 3:10.85.

Sophomore Antwon Hicks placed third in the 110-meter hurdles in the college men's division with his time of 13.73. Hicks entered the race with the second fastest preliminary time as he clocked in at 13.65 in Friday's action.

Sophomore Brandon Atkinson placed fourth in the college men's triple jump with his mark of 49-9.75. Junior Kendrick Triggs placed sixth in the college men's 100 meters with his time of 10.62, and sophomore Shantel Glass placed eighth in the college men's championship division with his leap of 24-3.75.

The top Lady Rebel performance of the meet came in the sprint medley as the Ole Miss squad turned in a time of 3:58.34, which placed 14th.

The UM tracksters will return to the Ole Miss Track and Field Complex on Saturday, May 3, to host the Ole Miss Open.
