Ole Miss Throwers Compete At Knoxville Invitational

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Ole Miss senior Stacy Andrews dominated the field at the Knoxville Invitational on Sunday as he picked up titles in both the hammer throw and the discus throw. Fellow senior Walt Sligh picked up a title in the shot put, as the Rebels took first place in all three events in which they were entered.
Andrews set a new Ole Miss record with his winning toss of 194-2 in the hammer throw. He also finished first among collegiate competitors in the discus throw with his mark of 170-10. Sligh took home top honors in the shot put with his toss of 51-3.75.
Monique McClure led the way for the Lady Rebels as she placed first among collegiate finishers in the javelin with her mark of 123-1. Freshmen Kristi Stillwell and Robyn Gaunder also placed in the event. Stillwell was second in the event with her distance of 107-0, while Gaunder was third with her mark of 80-3.
McClure also placed second in the shot put with her toss of 41-3, while Gaunder was second in the discus (138-8) and Stillwell was third (121-7). Senior Amanda Harvey was second in the hammer throw with her mark of 150-4. Stillwell was third in the event (137-2) and Gaunder was fourth (122-10).
Ole Miss will return to action on Saturday, May 3, when they host the Ole Miss Open.
