OXFORD, Miss. - Tupelo High School right-hander pitcher Will Kline has signed a national letter of intent to play baseball at Ole Miss, Rebel head coach Mike Bianco announced Wednesday. Kline will be eligible for the 2003-2004 academic year.

Kline recorded a three-year varsity record of 15-7 on the mound. He was named to the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal All-Area team after his junior and senior seasons.

This past spring, Kline was 1-1 in limited pitching action, however, he hit .487 with three home runs and 26 RBIs while serving as the designated hitter. He went 9-4 on the mound as a junior and posted a 5-2 mark as a sophomore.

"We're very excited that Will has decided to sign with us," Bianco said. "He had a very good high school career as a pitcher and will add depth to our pitching staff. Will also had an outstanding senior season at the plate, so we're anxious to see how he will contribute here."

Ole Miss went 35-27 this past spring and earned an NCAA Regional berth. It was the Rebels' second NCAA appearance in Bianco's three seasons at the school.
