Ole Miss Football Practice Through The Rain Tuesday

OXFORD, Miss. - A mild rainstorm came through Oxford Tuesday afternoon, but the weather didn't dampen the spirits of the Ole Miss football practice. Instead of chasing the Rebels inside, head coach David Cutcliffe said the players were happy with the cooler temperatures that came with the rain.

"We got a little break in the weather today," Cutcliffe said. "I told our players, 'I don't know who ordered that up, but it was cold enough to put a coat on out here today.' I thought the cooler weather excited the players."

Another reason for excitement at Tuesday's practice was the players' anticipation for Wednesday's scrimmage. According to Cutcliffe, the scrimmage will try to simulate what goes on in a regular game as much as possible.

"What we did today was preparation for tomorrow," said Cutcliffe. "We're going to scrimmage tomorrow, and do as much game-like situations as possible. Today was preparation for that.

"Tomorrow we're going to operate the kicking units, and we're going to have two different teams with a squad on each sideline. It's going to be as much of a dress rehearsal as we can possibly get. We'll see how tomorrow goes and we'll evaluate it."

Ole Miss opens its 2003 campaign Aug. 30 at Vanderbilt. Jefferson Pilot Sports will televise the Rebels' season opener, with the kick-off set for 11:30 a.m. (CT).
