Ellison Leads Ole Miss At Crimson Classic

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Ole Miss sophomore Rachel Ellison clocked in at 18:54, good for 14th place in the women's 5k race to lead the Lady Rebels at the 16th Annual Crimson Classic hosted by the University of Alabama. Ellison helped guide Ole Miss to a seventh place tie in the women's team standings at the prestigious meet.
Sophomore Jimmy Lohmar led the way for the Rebels. Lohmar turned in a time of 27:57 in the men's 8k race and earned a 43rd place finish. The Rebels finished 10th as a team.
Junior Tiffany McWilliams of Mississippi State was the women's overall champion as she crossed the finish line with a time of 17:28, while the Tennessee women took home the team title with just 37 points.
Alabama sophomore Tyler Stanfield took home the victory in the men's race as he finished the course in 25:07. The Crimson Tide also took home the team title on the men's side as they collected 41 points.
In addition to Ellison, junior Beth Brorby (55th, 20:40), freshmen Mallory Hamsher (58th, 20:46) and Micah Pioreck (60th, 20:49) and junior Erin Jordan (61st, 20:50) rounded out the scoring for the Lady Rebels.
Lohmar was followed in the men's race by sophomores Justin Jernigan (63rd, 28:53), Bryce McKay (64th, 28:56), Michael Atkins (71st, 29:23) and Devin Darnall (72nd, 29:24) in the scoring for the Rebels.
Ole Miss will take a weekend off before hosting the Ole Miss Invitational on Friday, October 3.
