Lady Rebels Dominate Tennessee Tech, 68-56

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - The Ole Miss women's basketball team won their third-straight game on Saturday, improving their record to 8-5 after defeating Tennessee Tech, 68-56. Senior guard Genice Terry led all scorers in the game with 20 points for the Lady Rebels.
"I thought we really got after it defensively tonight," said Ole Miss head coach Carol Ross. "We played with great intensity and were able to force some turnovers and pick up some steals. Our defense fueled our offense tonight."
The Lady Rebels led 28-20 at the break, behind 12 points from Terry and nine points from freshman forward Armintie Price. Terry and Price were the catalysts on both offense and defense as Terry collected four steals in the first half and Price was credited with two.
In the second half the Lady Rebels opened up the game as they continued to pressure the Golden Eaglettes, forcing TTU into 24 turnovers off of 14 steals. The Lady Rebels also held the Golden Eaglettes to just 33 percent shooting from the field.
Terry finished with five steals and three assists, in addition to her game-high 20 points. Price finished the game with 13 points and a team-high eight rebounds. She also finished with five steals. Senior forward Tywanna Inmon also scored in double digits with 10 points for Ole Miss.
TTU was led by Jenna Baltimore with 16 points and Emily Christian with eight rebounds.
Ole Miss made 47 percent of the shots from the field, despite making only 15 percent from beyond the arc. The Lady Rebels connected on 20-of-25 free throws, good for 80 percent. Ole Miss will play their fourth game in seven days on Monday, when they play host to Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The Lady Rebels will be playing at home for the first time since Dec. 1, when they defeated McNeese State, 85-72. Game time is set for 7 p.m., at Tad Smith Coliseum.
