Rebels Compete in 2004 SEC Cross Country Championship

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The men's and women's cross country teams finished their season at the 2004 SEC Cross Country Championship Saturday in Fayetteville, Ark. at Razorback Cross Country Course at Agri Park.
The Arkansas men took home the SEC Championship trophy with 23 points, while the Lady Vols of Tennessee came out on top with 55 points. The Ole Miss men finished 10th with 297 points. The Lady Rebels scored 334 points putting them in 12th place.
Junior Justin Jernigan led the Rebel men with a 53rd place finish with a time of 25:29.66. Following Jernigan was freshman Kyle Lewis (56th, 25:34.25), Caleb Hammons (77th, 26:39.01), Patrick Journy (84th, 27:00.28), Matthew Merritt (87th, 27:10.30), Devin Darnall (90th, 27:33.58), Fred Cummings (93rd, 28:04.55) and Mike Atkins (98th, 28:27.31).
The top finisher for the Lady Rebels was sophomore Shannon Chandler in 39th place with a time of 22:35.07. Following Chandler was Erin Jordan (74th, 23:48.80), Samantha Mazer (83rd, 24:18.40), Micah Pioreck (84th, 24:19.33), Stephanie Barber (94th, 26:37.25), Carolyn Hill (96th, 26:54.14) and Adele Champlin (97th, 29:12.20).
The NCAA South Central Regional Championship will be held at Baylor on Nov. 13.
