OLE MISS CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS COMPETE IN NCAA SOUTH REGIONAL

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Ole Miss men's and women's cross country teams traveled to Tuscaloosa, Ala., where they competed in the NCAA South Regional, hosted by the University of Alabama, held at the Harry Pritchard Golf Course.

Florida's Steve Zieminski captured first place in the men's race in a time of 29:35.86. His time helped Florida to a second place finish, while the Florida State men's team took home the title on Saturday. The Lady Vols of Tennessee took home the title on the women's side. Leading the women's race was Angela Homan of Auburn with a time of 20:25.83.

The Rebel men finished in 17th place with 454 points. Junior Justin Jernigan, once again led the Rebels with a 63rd place finished with a time of 32:14.72. Freshman Kyle Lewis finished in 85th place with a time of 32:54.43. Following Jernigan and Lewis were senior Caleb Hammons (93rd, 33:09.51), sophomore Patrick Journy (121st, 34:22.55), junior Matthew Merritt (127th, 34:51.48) and junior Mike Atkins (132nd, 35:28.89).

The Lady Rebel team finished 20th with sophomore Shannon Chandler leading the way for a 44th place finish with a time of 22:25.74. Following Chandler, were senior Erin Jordan (95th, 23:25.95), sophomore Micah Pioreck (130th, 24:23.52), freshman Samantha Mazer (150th, 25:07.92), junior Stephanie Barber (158th, 27:05.45), sophomore Carolyn Hill (160th, 27:08.03) and sophomore Adele Champlin (163rd, 35:14.75).
