Ole Miss is looking to get back in the win column when they take on McNeese State on the first day of action at the Hoops for the Cure Tournament. Ole Miss fell to No. 21/23 Louisiana Tech, 88-70, in their last outing.
The Lady Rebels are 1-1 under the direction of second-year head coach Carol Ross. Ross, who played at Ole Miss from 1979-82, earned SEC Co-Coach of the Year honors in 2004 after guiding Ole Miss back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in eight seasons.
Ole Miss opened the 2004-05 season with a 67-48 road win over UAB, before falling to the Lady Techsters in their home-opener. Seniors Amber Watts (13.5) and Carletta Brown (13.0) and sophomore Armintie Price (12.0) average double-figure scoring to lead Ole Miss.
McNeese State enters Friday's contest with an 0-2 record after opening the season with losses to Rice and Southern University. Seniors Regina Spivey and Tara Abdul-Hadi lead the way for the Cowgirls. Spivey averages a team best 12.5 points per game, while Abdul-Hadi pulls down seven caroms per contest to lead the team.
McNeese State is under the direction of fourth-year head coach Carol Sensley. Sensley, who arrived at McNeese State after spending two seasons as an assistant coach at Ole Miss, owns a 26-57 record at McNeese State. Her overall Division I head coaching record is the same.
