Lady Rebels Tame Lady Golden Lions 89-41

OXFORD, Miss. -- Ole Miss scored the game's first 15 points and never looked back in an 89-41 rout of Arkansas-Pine Bluff Tuesday night, in front of 1,185 at the Tad Smith Coliseum.
Sophomore guard Armintie Price scored a game-high 21 points as the Lady Rebels had 11 players score on the evening. Senior center Amber Terrell added 18 points off the bench, and center Amber Watts and guard Ashley Awkward netted 10 points each.
The Lady Rebels (5-3) held the Lady Golden Lions (2-5) scoreless for the first six minutes and used a 17-0 run to build a 32-5 lead with 7:52 left in the first half. Ole Miss then carried a 45-10 lead into the break.
"It's always good to comeback and get a win after a loss in which we did not represent ourselves very well," said Ole Miss head coach Carol Ross. "We got off to a fast start tonight and kept the pressure up in the first half. We still have a few things that we need work on and continue to get better.
"It was also good to have both Armintie and Terrell back in uniform tonight."
Ole Miss led by as much as 53 points late in the game at 83-30.
The Lady Rebels finished the night shooting 42.9 percent from the field, connecting on 30-of-70 shots. Ole Miss pounded the ball inside on a regular basis, outscoring the Golden Lady Lions 50-8 in the paint. Ole Miss also converted on 28-of-36 free throw attempts.
Ole Miss also held a 54-40 advantage in rebounds, led by Terrell's nine boards. Price and Watts also grabbed eight boards each.
UAPB was limited to 22 percent shooting, making just 13-of-59 shots from the floor. The Lady Golden Lions also committed 31 turnovers on the night.
Senior forward Jessica Fulce led UAPB with 15 points.
Ole Miss will return to action Thursday night when the Lady Rebels host Grambling State at 7 p.m., inside the Tad Smith Coliseum.
