LaToya McBride Takes Fifth Place At SEC Indoor Championships

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Junior LaToya McBride set a new Ole Miss record in placing fifth at the 2004 SEC Indoor Championships in the pentathlon. McBride finished with 3,736 points in the five events in taking home four points for the Lady Rebels.

McBride set a new personal best in the 800 meters with her time of 2:26.83. The time earned her 733 points. Her top performance of the day came in the 60-meter hurdles. McBride clocked in at 8.89, which gave her 933 points for the event.

McBride cleared 5-5.25 in the high jump (806 points). She reached 18-8 in the long jump (756 points) and tossed the shot put 31-8.75 (508 points).

Not far behind McBride was teammate Antisha Anderson. Anderson placed eighth in the pentathlon with her 3,586 point total in the five events. Anderson's top finish came in the 60-meter hurdles with her time of 8.72. Anderson's time earned her 969 points in the event.

Her other marks were as follows:high jump, 5-5.25 (806 points), shot put 35-10.5 (591 points), long jump 17-0.5 (612 points) and 800 meters 2:36.95 (608 points).

Both the Lady Rebels and Rebels will take the track tomorrow in day two of action at the 2004 SEC Indoor Championships hosted by the University of Kentucky.
