Box Score

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Freshman Armintie Price scored 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to record her 11th double-double of the season and lead Ole Miss to its first Southeastern Conference road win of the season with a 71-65 victory over South Carolina Thursday evening in front of 1,048 at The Colonial Center.

The Lady Rebels (14-8, 5-3 SEC) had four players score in double figures, led Price's 23 points. Senior guard Genice Terry scored 15, senior forward Tywanna Inmon netted 14 and junior guard Carletta Brown added 10.

Ole Miss would build a 27-4 lead midway through the first half as the Lady Rebels carried a 48-32 lead into halftime.

Terry opened the game with a three-pointer and capped a 10-0 Ole Miss run to start the contest with another trey with 16:34 left in the first half.

After Cristina Ciocan's jumper put the Gamecocks (9-11, 0-7 SEC) on the board to make it 10-2, the Lady Rebels used a 17-2 spurt to go up 27-4 advantage with 10:31 left in the half.

South Carolina would open the second half with a 10-2 spurt, capped by two Lauren Simms' free throws, to cut the Ole Miss lead to 50-42 with 16:11 remaining. The Lady Rebels would push the lead to back over 10 points and led 62-49 on a Price lay-up with 7:51 to go.

The Gamecocks made a late surge and closed to within three at 65-62 on Kelly Morrone's three-pointer with 1:50 left. Inmon's jumper gave Ole Miss a 67-62 advantage before Morrone nailed another trey to make it 67-65 with 54 seconds remaining.

Inmon hit another jumper to make it 69-65 with 25 seconds to go and Price and Amber Watts each went 1-for-2 at the free throw line in the final 10 seconds for the 71-65 final.

"It was good to get our first SEC road win of the year," said Ole Miss head coach Carol Ross. "I think we learned a lot from those earlier SEC road losses. Now we have to go out and try to keep this going with a tough game at Mississippi State on Sunday."

Ole Miss finished the night hitting 50-percent from the floor on 26-of-52 shooting. The Lady Rebels were 6-of-15 from beyond the arc.

South Carolina shot 31 percent from the field, connecting on 20-of-64, including 12-of-39 from three-point range.

Ole Miss outscored the Gamecocks 30-12 inside the paint, and the Lady Rebels also finished with a 44-40 advantage on the boards.

Morrone led the Gamecocks with 22 points.

Ole Miss will next be in action Sunday afternoon at Mississippi State. Game time is 1 p.m., at the Humphrey Coliseum and the game will be televised by ESPN2.
