Rebel Golfers Finish Fourth At Conrad Rehling Invite

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - True freshman Kyle Ellis fired a career-best round of 69 Sunday as the Ole Miss men's golf team finished fourth out of 13 teams in the annual Conrad Rehling Alabama Invitational. Sunday's seven-over-par comes after the Rebels had turned in scores of 292 (Friday) and 297 (Saturday) at the 'Ol Colony Golf Course.

The host Crimson Tide won the tournament championship (293-287-298--878, +14), while Jacksonville State finished second (286-295-299--880, +16) and Kentucky placed third (299-290-292--881, +17). Ole Miss finished with a three-day total of 884 (+20).

Kent State and Toledo tied for fifth place at the invite (302-289-296--887), while UAB finished seventh (304-298-293--895), Georgia State eighth (305-301-292--898), Notre Dame ninth (304-297-305--906), North Florida 10th (307-297-306--910), Tulane 11th (312-303-296--911), Mississippi State 12th (304-313-304--921) and Michigan State 13th (304-308-311--923).

Ellis finished sixth overall (74-72-69--215, -1) with the career-best effort in Sunday's third-and-final round. Senior Pope Spruiell was close behind, in a tie for eighth (70-76-71--217, +1). Junior Adam Swope tied for 35th place (73-75-80--228), while junior David Shields finished in a six-way tie for 38th overall (78-74-78--230).

Junior Jarrod Gardner, competing as an individual, also tied for 38th (76-79-75--230), while redshirt freshman Callum Macaulay tied for 59th (75-84-77--236).

Ole Miss is idle until April 9-11 when it travels to Opelika, Ala., for the Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate.
