Rebel 4x400-Meter Relay Team Advances At Texas Relays

AUSTIN, Texas - The Rebel 4x400-meter relay team advanced to Saturday's final at the prestigious Texas Relays on Friday. The Rebels clocked in at 3:09.52 to advance to the final race.

"The guys had a good race today," said Ole Miss head coach Joe Walker. "The placed first in their heat, and looked good out there. I am hoping they can step it up another notch tomorrow and see what they can do."

Lady Rebel junior LaToya McBride placed sixth in the University Women's 'B' Long Jump Division. McBride leaped 19-2.5 in taking sixth place. Junior Octavia Carter competed in the 100-meter hurdles (14.24) and the 400-meter hurdles (1:02.81), but did not advance to the finals in either race. Junior Antisha Anderson also competed in the 100-meter hurdles (15.03).

Junior Shantel Glass competed in the long jump, turning in a leap of 23-3.25. Senior James Shelton ran the 100 meters (11.07), but did not make the finals.

The Lady Rebel 4x100-meter relay team will compete on Saturday in the Olympic Development race. Also competing tomorrow will be junior Antwon Hicks in the Olympic Qualifying 110-meter hurdles race.
