OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss men's golf coach Ernest Ross announced the team's 2004-05 schedule Friday as the Rebels look ahead to the start of the upcoming campaign. Ross is expected to add at least one more invitational to the slate, which currently includes five regular-season tournaments in the fall and three more in the spring.
Ole Miss will open its fall schedule at the Raising Cane Classic in Hattiesburg, Miss. (Sept. 20-21). The Rebels then return to the Mason Rudolph Championships in Nashville, Tenn. (Sept. 26-27) before invading Memphis, Tenn., for the Memphis Intercollegiate (Oct. 4-5). The slate continues at the Gary Koch/Cleveland Intercollegiate in Tampa, Fla. (Oct. 11-12) before wrapping up at the Country Club of Louisiana Intercollegiate in Baton Rouge, La. (Oct. 25-26).
The Rebels will kick off their spring schedule at the Seminole Intercollegiate in Tallahassee, Fla. (March 6-8) before heading to Tuscaloosa, Ala., for the Conrad Rehling Invitational (March 11-13) and Auburn, Ala., for the Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate (April 8-10). Ole Miss will also journey to Sea Island, Ga., for the SEC Championships (April 15-17).
"This is my first year back, but I think returning golfers (on this team) understand how difficult the schedule can be," said Ross, who returns to his alma mater for a second stint after coaching the men's golf team from 1979-87. "Everyone associated with this program is excited about the upcoming season. We are looking forward to the preseason and want to be ready for that first tournament on Sept. 20."
