REBELS OFF TO GREAT START IN RAZORBACK INVITATIONAL

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Ole Miss men's and women's track and field teams off to a great start in Razorback Invitational . Rebel men and women finish three in the top ten in the long jump.

Senior Shantel Glass took home the title in the long jump with a jump of 24-5.5. Joining Glass in the top ten were Charles Bailey (4th, 23-8.75) and Brandon Atkinson (8th, 23-1.75). Leading the Rebel men in the 200 meter race was senior Chris Lawson finishing fifth in a time of 21.56. Another rebel in the top ten was sophomore Paul Cosselli who finished sixth in the weight throw with a toss of 43-0.5.

For the women's team, once again junior Marquita Aldridge finished in first place in the long jump leaping 20-5. Following Aldridge were teammates Amber Bledsoe jumping 19-7 for a fourth place finish and Alexis McField finishing in ninth place with a jump of 18-4.25. Senior LaToya McBride finished third place in the pentathlon with 3778 points. Following McBride were newcomers Francis Vital finishing sixth with 3586 points and Antisha Anderson finishing in tenth place with 2648 points. Sophomore Shannon Chandler crossed the finish line in eighth place in the 5,000 meter race. Freshman Kenyata Coleman led the Lady Rebels in the 200 meter race, finishing in seventh place with a time of 24.75. The women also finished strong in other field events. In the weight throw Crystal Stewart finished in fourth place with a toss of 55-07 with teammate Kristi Stillwell finishing in fifth place. In the high jump freshman Carmia Carroll and senior Octavia Carter tied for 5th place jumping 5-05.

The Rebels will continue competing at the Razorback Invitational on Saturday with the running events starting at 1 p.m. and wrapping up the day with the 4x400-meter relay at 5:10 p.m.
