FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Ole Miss senior hurdler Antwon Hicks earned his second national title on Friday night as he defended his 60-meter hurdle title with his winning time of 7.64. Hicks edged Florida's Josh Walker for the title, capping off an undefeated indoor undefeated during the 2005 indoor season in the hurdles.

"It is hard enough to win one NCAA title," said Ole Miss head coach Joe Walker. "Winning two is just unbelievable. I cannot say enough nice things about Antwon Hicks. He is just an outstanding competitor and manages to rise to the occasion week in and week out."

Hicks has now won eight consecutive indoor hurdle races dating back to last year's national championships. He clocked in with the second fastest time in the field in the preliminaries with his time of 7.71. With his win on Friday, Hicks became the first Ole Miss athlete to win two NCAA indoor titles and picked up his fifth All-American honor of his career.

"I am really excited about this title," said Hicks, a native of Hot Springs, Ark. "Winning last year was amazing, but coming in as the reigning champion adds a little pressure to the race. I felt like I had a lot to prove. I am glad I could go out and represent Ole Miss in a positive way and bring home another NCAA title to Oxford."

Fellow senior Shantel Glass competed in the long jump on Friday. Glass recorded a mark of 24-1.75 in the preliminaries, missing out on the finals. The Aberdeen, Miss., native had two longer jumps disqualified, as he fouled.

Junior Marquita Aldridge was the lone NCAA qualifier for the Ole Miss women. Aldridge competed in Friday's long jump, posting a mark of 19-9.75, which did not qualify her for the finals.

Rebel senior Brandon Atkinson will conclude Ole Miss' NCAA Indoor competition tomorrow. Atkinson will compete in the triple jump at 5:45 p.m. on Saturday evening.
