OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss head men's golf coach Ernest Ross has announced the signing of national letters of intent by Jamie Howarth of Stockport, England, and Will Roebuck of Bucks, England, for the 2005-06 season.

Howarth recently finished 31st out of 256 at the Brabazon Trophy tournament, which is one of the top five amateur events in Europe. He has also qualified as one of the top 40 players in the British Amateur. He is 21 years old and will start as a sophomore at Ole Miss.

"Jamie had an excellent record in England playing in international competition," Ross said. "He has a great swing from a technical standpoint, and he should be able to help us immediately."

Roebuck has attended the David Leadbetter Golf Academy in Bradenton, Fla., this past year. He recently finished ninth out of 140 players at the Future Collegians World Tour National Championship in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

Roebuck also competed on the Florida Junior Tour in May, medalling at the University Park Golf Club in Sarasota, Fla., after shooting rounds of 72 and 69.

"Will has learned from some of the best instructors in the world at the Leadbetter Academy and also has great technique in his swing and possesses exceptional distance," Ross added. "I feel both Will and Jamie can be great college golfers in the SEC - the strongest golf conference in the nation."
