SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Ole Miss senior Antwon Hicks will get a chance to continue in his quest for an NCAA Outdoor title. The Hot Springs, Ark., native advanced to the finals in the 110-meter hurdles on Wednesday evening at the 2005 NCAA Outdoor Championships after turning in the top time of the day in the preliminary round at the Alex G. Spanos Track and Field Complex.

Hicks turned in a time of 13.57 in the first round of action in the 110-meter hurdles and then followed that up with a 13.76 in the semi-final round. He will run in the finals on Friday at 9:55 p.m. (CST).

"Antwon ran smart races today," said Ole Miss head coach Joe Walker. "His first race he ran very well and got a good time in and then he came back just a few hours later and ran a nice race to advance to the finals. He is one step away from a possible NCAA title."

Several other Ole Miss athletes were also in action on Wednesday, but failed to advance in their respective events. Senior Shantel Glass capped off an outstanding Rebel career with a 13th place finish in the men's long jump. Glass turned in a mark of 24-1.75 to close out his senior season. Glass competed in six NCAA championship meets during his Rebel career, earning one All-America honor.

Freshman Kenyata Coleman clocked in at 53.72 in the 400 meters, narrowly missing advancing to the semi-finals as she finished in 18th place and 16 runners moved on to the next round of action. Coleman also competed as a member of the Lady Rebel 4x100-meter relay team. She joined forces with junior Marquita Aldridge, senior Chiquita Stephens and sophomore Kimberly Mulkey in the race and the quartet turned in a time of 44.92. They had the 12th fastest time in the event, with only the top eight teams advancing to Friday's final.

Action will resume today with the men's decathlon kicking things off at 1:15 p.m. Ole Miss athletes will begin competition at 7:10 with junior Chris Lawson participating in the men's 200 meters qualifying. Lawson is the only Rebel competing in Thursday's action.
