SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Ole Miss junior Chris Lawson, competing for the first time as an individual at an NCAA championship meet, advanced to the semfinals in the 200 meters at the 2005 NCAA Outdoor Championships. Lawson turned in a personal best time of 20.85 in the semifinal round of action, but did not advance to Saturday's finals.

Lawson clocked in at 20.99 in the preliminary round of the 200 meters. He then returned to the track just two hours later and ran his personal best time in the semifinal round. Only the top eight runners advanced to Saturday's 200 meters final, and Lawson finished 15th.

Ole Miss competitors will begin action on Friday at the Alex G. Spanos Track and Field Complex with senior LaToya McBride in the heptathlon. Fellow senior Brandon Atkinson will compete in the triple jump at 7 p.m., and senior Antwon Hicks will compete in the 110-meter hurdle finals at 9:55 p.m.
