Di Cesare Advances To Quarterfinals At SEC Indoor Tournament

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Senior Ole Miss men's tennis player Juan Pablo Di Cesare posted two wins on Saturday to advance to the quarterfinals of the main draw at the 2006 Southeastern Conference Men's Tennis Indoor Championships.
Di Cesare posted a 6-2, 5-7, 6-2 win over Kaden Hansel of Tennessee in the second round. In the third round, he defeated Kentucky's Marcus Sundh in straight sets, 6-4, 7-5 to move on to the quarterfinal round, where he will face LSU's Ken Skupski on Sunday. Skupski defeated Rebel Jakob Klaeson, 6-2, 7-5 in the second round, before upsetting the top seed in the third round.
In other singles action, newcomer Robbye Poole came back to beat Vanderbilt's Ryan Preston in three sets, before falling to Georgia's top newcomer Luis Flores 6-3, 6-4. Poole went 2-1 in his debut for the Rebels. Junior Eric Claesson downed Yevgeny Supeko 6-2, 6-1 in the second round. In the third round, he suffered a three-set loss to Georgia's Matic Omerzel 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.
In main draw doubles, the tandem of Bram ten Berge and Jakob Klaeson fell to LSU's Mark Growcott and Ken Skupski, 8-3 in the quarterfinals.
ten Berge picked up another win for the Rebels in the second round of consolation action, taking the match easily by a score of 6-1, 6-0 over Andy Mack of Vanderbilt.
Competition will continue on Sunday with quarterfinal and semifinal singles.
