OXFORD, Miss. -
The Lady Rebels (11-7, 1-4) will seek their second SEC road victory when they travel to Mississippi State on Thursday. The game versus the Lady Bulldogs (, 1-5) is scheduled for 7 p.m., in Humphrey Coliseum.
Ole Miss and Mississippi State are both entering Thursday's game with just one win in conference play. Ole Miss knocked off Auburn on the road and MSU beat Ole Miss in Oxford in the two teams previous meeting.
Ole Miss is led on the season by junior guard Armintie Price with 17.0 points and 10.9 rebounds per game. Price, a preseason Wooden and Naismith Award Candidate, is one of two players in the SEC averaging a double-double.
After opening the season with three-straight games in double figures, sophomore forward Danetra Forrest has collected four double-figure outings to open conference play. Forrest notched career highs in both points (19) and rebounds (14) against Florida last week. Forrest controlled 11 offensive rebounds versus the Gators.
Sophomore guard Tasi Worsham got her third career start versus Kentucky on Sunday and scored a career-high 14 points in a career-best 32 minutes. Worsham also added two rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Sophomore forward Carla Bartee has been Ole Miss' top player off the bench with 8.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per outing, although she has started the last two games. Bartee led Ole Miss in scoring against Florida with 20 points. She made 4-of-6 from beyond the arc against the Gators.
Under the direction of third-year head coach Carol Ross, the Lady Rebels are 47-32. Ross, who played at Ole Miss from 1979-82, earned SEC Co-Coach of the Year honors in 2004 after guiding Ole Miss back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in eight seasons. Ross' Lady Rebels returned to the NCAA Tournament in 2004-05, falling to George Washington in the first round of play.
Mississippi State enters Thursday's game with a 6-13 overall mark and an 1-5 mark in conference action. MSU has lost four-straight games since defeating Ole Miss, 70-59, on January 8.
Freshman Robin Porter leads MSU with 10.2 points per game. Porter also grabs 5.7 boards per contest. Senior Mamie McKinney leads the Lady Bulldogs on the boards with 5.9 per outing. Freshman Heather Hollis adds 9.4 points per game and sophomore Miayorka Johnson chips in 7.8.
In the two teams' first meeting, McKinney and senior Doceide Warren each posted double-doubles. McKinney finished with 13 points and 10 boards, while Warren had 11 points and 10 boards.
Lady Bulldog head coach Sharon Fanning is 176-137 in her 11th season at MSU. Her overall coaching mark is 499-364 in 29 seasons.
