Men's Golf Announces Signing Of Outstanding Mississippi Players

OXFORD, Miss. Two outstanding Mississippi players, Jonathan Randolph of Brandon, and Billy Brozovich of Greenville, have signed a national letter of intent to join the Ole Miss men’s golf program beginning in the 2007-08 season head coach Ernest Ross announced Tuesday.

Randolph, who attends Jackson Prep, is ranked No. 26 in the class of 2007 by the American Junior Golf Association.   He has played in numerous tournaments, including winning the Bubba Conlee Junior in Olive Branch, Miss., with a score of 10-under par for three rounds. 

In January of this year, Randolph finished second in the Future Collegians World Tour event in Innisbrook, Fla.   He also qualified for a mini-tour event and made the cut against an all-professional field. 

“Jonathan is very talented and experienced,” Ross said.  “As one of the top players in America, he has played all over the country this past year, literally from California to Florida and many spots in between.  He will be able to come in and help our team immediately.”

Brozovich, a senior at Washington School, won the Exxon-BFI Junior at Greenville this past summer, and had several top 10s in national and regional tournaments.    

A five-sport star, Brozovich is the starting quarterback on the football team and has also played baseball, basketball, soccer and golf during his years at Washington.             

“Billy has the tools to be a great player in the SEC,” Ross said.   “He has excellent distance off the tee and terrific swing fundamentals.  When he concentrates on only one sport in college, I look for him to be a big-time player for us.”

 The Rebels completed the fall by capturing the Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate in Nashville, Tenn.  They will begin the spring at the Rio Pinar Intercollegiate Feb. 19-20 in Orlando, Fla.
