OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss Lady Rebels topped Auburn Sunday, winning 64-61 behind junior Armintie Price 13th double-double on the season. Price nearly missed a triple-double with 19 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists. With the win Ole Miss improved to 14-10, 4-7 while Auburn falls to 12-11, 3-7.

"This was a great win," Ole Miss head coach Carol Ross said. "This time of year you have to scrap and fight for these. It's a long season and we have to continue playing hard."

The Lady Rebels led by as many as 14 points in the first half behind 10 points from senior Ashley Johnson, before Auburn went on a 12-2 run to close the gap to four at the break. Ole Miss took a 37-33 lead into intermission.

The second half had three ties and five lead changes before Price scored the go ahead basket and free throw with 1:08 remaining. Auburn would get three shots at the basket in the last minute, but could not convert as Ole Miss won its first SEC home game.

"It was not easy on the inside because of Auburn's height advantage, but we did enough things in the paint to win," Ross said. "It was not our finest win, but it moves us one step closer to our goals."

Price made 6-of-10 shots from the field and all seven of her free throw attempts. Johnson was the only other Lady Rebel in double figures along with Price, while sophomore Carla Bartee came off the bench to score nine points and junior Ashley Awkward also added nine and four assists.

In addition leading the team in scoring, rebounding and assists, Price also was tops in steals with six. Ole Miss recorded 14 thefts on the afternoon after forcing Auburn in to 21 turnovers, with Johnson picking up three and Awkward and sophomore Jada Mincy grabbing two a piece.

Despite Price's 11 rebounds, Ole Miss was out done on the boards 45-32. Mincy pulled down six rebounds and freshman Shawn Goff grabbed four.

A trio of freshmen led the Tigers as reserve Sherell Hobbs was the high scorer with 17 points. She also grabbed 11 rebounds. KeKe Carrier chipped in 15 points and DeWanna Bonner posted a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Both teams shot 40 percent from the field, with Ole Miss holding an advantage at the three-point line making five while holding Auburn to none. Both teams poured in 11 free throws, however Auburn attempted 17 and Ole Miss only attempted 14.

Ole Miss will return to action on Thursday, Feb. 16, when they travel to Lexington, Ky., to take on the Kentucky Wildcats. Game time is set for 6 p.m. (CST) at Memorial Coliseum.
