The men's tennis and the women's golf teams were recognized for winning the Chancellor's Cup, awarded to the men's and women's varsity sports at Ole Miss with the highest cumulative grade point average for 2005. Both the men's and women's basketball teams earned the CHAMPS Cup for outstanding community service.

In 2005, the Rebel netters, coached by 2006 Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame inductee Billy Chadwick, advanced to the NCAA Final Four and won their second consecutive SEC Championship and their fourth straight SEC West title. They finished the year ranked No. 3 in the nation. In addition to winning the Chancellor's Cup for the second year in a row, the Rebels were named an ITA All-Academic Team.

The Lady Rebel golfers earned the Chancellor's Cup for the first time. In her five seasons, head coach Meghan Bolger has taken the Lady Rebels to the NCAA Tournament twice (2003, 2004) and had several athletes earn Academic All-America honors.

Individually, 176 student-athletes were honored for making one of the University's three honor rolls in 2005. In addition, 38 made perfect 4.0 GPAs.
