OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss football team hit the practice fields again on Friday in the Rebels' second spring workout in shells, and the offense was particularly impressive.

"Today, you could see our offense coming together under the direction of (offensive coordinator) Dan Werner," said head coach Ed Orgeron. "The run drill of the offense just dominated. We made some changes along the offensive line. We moved Thomas Eckers to first-team center and Maurice Miller to right guard, and I thought it was a great combination."

The two-plus hour practice began with some special teams and kicking-game work before moving on into position drills, red-zone drills and running game drills.

"We worked on blocking punts today. They got a little better. We wanted them to be more aggressive. We also worked on punt returns and kick returns, and I thought we did a good job there."

Orgeron also praised the work of quarterback-turned-tight end Robert Lane.

"Robert Lane scored on a fantastic catch in the back of the end zone today, and that's why he's at tight end - to be a playmaker," Orgeron said.

Running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis, who will be eligible to see his first game action as a Rebel this fall after sitting out last season due to NCAA transfer rules, continued to carry the load at tailback and impress the coaches, Orgeron noted.

Orgeron said that the defense did not have a good day, but that walk-on quarterback Seth Adams saw some time as the first-team signal caller and did okay.

Saturday's practice will be open to the public. It is slated for 11 a.m. and will include a light scrimmage midway through the workout session. The practice will be held at the practice fields adjacent to Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
