Tampa, Fla. - The Ole Miss men's and women's track and field teams turned in dominating performances at the USF Invitational in Tampa, Fla. on Saturday. The Rebel men took home first place in the team standings with a score of 178 points, while the Lady Rebels finished second with 160.5 points.
"This was a phenomenal meet," said Ole Miss head coach Joe Walker. "We won the men's title and probably would have won the women's if they had scored this as normal meet. Both really turned in dominating performances. "
The meet only allowed two athletes per event to count towards the team standings.
The Rebel men defeated Alabama, UConn., Florida A&M, and host school USF, after knocking off Arkansas State, Arkansas-Little Rock, Memphis, Southern Miss, and South Alabama last week.
The Lady Rebels bested Alabama, Florida A&M, and host school USF, after defeating Arkansas State, Arkansas, Memphis, Southern Miss, and South Alabama last week.

Rodney Lockhart won the 400 meters with a qualifying time of 46.82. Derek McGuire also won and qualified in the shot put after qualifying last weekend. The Rebel 4x400 meter relay team took home first place, as did long jumper Ed McCall.

Cachet Murray and Kim Mulkey qualified and finished 1-3 in the 100 meters with times of 11.64 and 11.71, respectively. Kenyata Coleman won the 400 meters and qualified with a time of 53.74 and the 4x100 meter relay team took hone first place and qualified with a time of 45.36. Marquita Aldridge won the long jump and Lindsay Doucett won the 800 meters.
In all Ole Miss earned nine NCAA Regional qualifying marks to give the Rebels and Lady Rebels 18 qualifiers in the past two weeks.
"All the athletes preformed well," said Walker. "We really showed our depth and balance this weekend. We had so many personal and season bests today. We are in great shape for this early in the outdoor season. We were without three of our best male athletes in Jacob Farmer, Chris Lawson and John Yarbrough, and we still won. I am very proud of how everybody competed."
Ole Miss returns home next weekend to host the Ole Miss Invitational, as part of the school's Red-Blue week activities.
