Ole Miss Powers Past Southeastern Louisiana 6-1

OXFORD, Miss. - After a slow start to the night, the Rebels bats found a little power as a solo home run from Logan Power jump started the Rebel bats to help Ole Miss (22-15, 7-8 SEC) claim a 6-1 win over Southeastern Louisiana (15-21) on Tuesday.
Power's home run in the fifth inning put the Rebels on the board and got the Rebels on track. Zack Cozart led the Rebels at the plate with a 3-for-4 performance with an RBI and a run scored.
Cody Satterwhite (5-2) picked up the win as he entered the game in the sixth inning with runners at second and third and one out. Satterwhite turned in 3.2 innings of work, holding the Lions to no hits while walking two and striking out one. Satterwhite relieved starter Tommy Baumgardner who worked 5.1 innings and left the game with runners in scoring position in the fifth.
Wade Miley (2-6) suffered the loss as he gave up four runs, three earned, as he allowed five hits on the night. Miley walked three and struck out two on the night. Southeastern Louisiana used a total of five pitchers on the night.
"Tommy and Cody were the story of the game," said Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco. "They were both really dominant. Tommy probably did not have his best stuff, but he battled and really pitched well. Cody really filled up the zone. The Southeastern Louisiana starter threw hard and pitched a great game. We missed too many fastballs and did not make him work enough."
Ole Miss got on the board in the fifth with Power's solo shot before going on to add three runs in the seventh and two runs in the eighth.
Southeastern Louisiana's lone run of the night came in the sixth when Ricky Newton grounded out to short with runners at second and third. The groundout scored Jason Waguespack from third.
Ole Miss and Southeastern Louisiana will return to action at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday for the second game of the series.
