Ole Miss Track Hosts Ole Miss Invitational Starting Friday

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss men's and women's track and field teams will host the Ole Miss Invitational beginning Friday, as part of the university's Red-Blue Week. The three day event includes a high school meet on Friday and a collegiate meet on Saturday and Sunday.

"We are very excited about the whole weekend," said Ole Miss head coach Joe Walker. "On Friday we have a chance to show our great facilities to high school athletes and coaches. In the collegiate meet there are a number of great teams and athletes competing this weekend. There will be great excitement and I expect some ferocious competition."

Among the collegiate teams expected to compete are Arkansas State, Alabama, UAB, Illinois, Memphis, Middle Tennessee, South Florida, Southern Mississippi, Tulane and Vanderbilt.

The collegiate meet kicks off on Saturday with field events at 10:00 a.m., followed by running events starting at noon. All events will take place at the Ole Miss Track and Field Complex.

The high school meets features over 30 high schools from Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee. The meet begins at 10:30 a.m. and will follow a running schedule of events.
