Ole Miss Track Nets Nine On All-Region Team

OXFORD, Miss. - Nine Ole Miss track and field athletes were named to the U.S. Track and Field Association All-Mideast region team on Tuesday.

The athletes honored include: Marquita Aldridge (4x100 meters, 4x400 meters and long jump), Carmia Carroll (high jump), Kenyata Coleman (4x400 meters and 400 meters), Kadeshia Fortune (4x100 meters), Barnabas Kirui (steeplechase), Derek McGuire (shot put), Cachet Murray (4x100 meters, 4x400 meters and long jump), Kim Mulkey (4x100 meters and 4x400 meters) and John Yarbrough (110-meter hurdles).

The athletes were selected for their achievement at the NCAA Mideast Outdoor Regional in Knoxville, Tenn. Kirui finished the regional as the runner-up in the steeplechase. Yarbrough took third in the 110-meter hurdles. Aldridge and Carroll finished fifth in the long jump and high jump, respectively. McGuire also placed fifth in the shot put. Coleman finished seventh in the 400 meters. Murray took eighth in the long jump. The Lady Rebel 4x100 meters relay team of Aldridge, Fortune, Murray and Mulkey finished sixth in the region, while the 4x400 meter team of Aldridge, Coleman, Murray and Mulkey finished seventh.

All nine athletes competed in the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

John Yarbrough also earned All-America honors for his fourth place-finish in the finals of 110-meter hurdles at the NCAA Championships. Yarbrough's time of 13.53 was a personal best.
