Satterwhite Earns Freshman All-America Honors From Collegiate Baseball

OXFORD, Miss. - Cody Satterwhite was named as an All-America selection by Collegiate Baseball on Thursday as the magazine released its annual Freshman All-America Team.
Satterwhite is the most recent in a list of Freshmen All-America selections for the Rebels, joining players such as former Rebels Seth Smith and Stephen Head, as well as current Rebel shortstop Zack Cozart and outfielder Alex Presley, in receiving the honor.
"This is a tremendous honor for Cody (Satterwhite) and one that he certainly deserves," said Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco. "He has handled himself well as a freshman and come up big for us down the stretch this season out of the bullpen. We're very proud of him."
Satterwhite has been solid in the pitching lineup for the Rebels this season, posting an 11-2 record to set the freshman record for wins and tying for first on the single-season wins list with All-America selection Jamey Price (1995) and Rich Zibilich (1997).
The freshman right-hander pitched the Rebels to four wins as a starter before moving to the bullpen where he has been a solid force in relief. Satterwhite has posted seven wins and two saves in his last 11 relief appearances to help push the Rebels to an SEC Tournament Title and hosting back-to-back NCAA Super Regionals. The Rebels also hosted an NCAA Regional for the third straight season.
Satterwhite has posted wins over Mississippi State, Memphis, then No. 18 LSU and Tennessee as a reliever. He also posted a save against No. 14 Arkansas in the SEC Tournament opening round. As a starter, Satterwhite posted a shutout of Illinois-Chicago as a part of his 4-0 run to open the season.
The Rebels will take to the field on Saturday at 6 p.m. to face the University of Miami Hurricanes in the opening game of an NCAA Super Regional in Oxford.
