OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss sophomore Zack Cozart was named to the USA Baseball National Team on Sunday and will be competing for the United States as the squad competes in the World University Championships.

The USA National team, which is comprised of collegiate players, begins competition Tuesday against Taiwan as the team prepares for the world games in Havana, Cuba in August.

Cozart is the third Rebel to make the squad in the last three years as Seth Smith and Stephen Head also competed for the USA National Team in 2003.

"We are very proud of Zack for being named to the roster as he represents the United States on an international level," said Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco. "Zack is certainly deserving of a spot on the roster and it's says a lot about his ability as a player to have earned the opportunity to compete at this level."

Cozart, who earned All-America and All-SEC honors this past season, helped lead the Rebels to the Southeastern Conference Tournament and a second straight appearance in the NCAA Super Regional against the Miami Hurricanes.

The shortstop led all players at his position in fielding among Southeastern Conference players as he posted a .975 fielding percentage and committed only eight errors on the year.

Through three games in the trials for the USA National Team, Cozart hit .600 as he went 6-for-10 with three runs scored and an RBI.
